About

Matthew has more than 30 years of experience of financial reporting, auditing, and fraud detection/prevention, holding a variety of enforcement roles at the SEC, PCAOB, and leadership roles at national consulting firms in this space.  


Prior to joining JGA, Matthew founded Bridgehaven Consulting where he used his expertise to provide clients with solutions to accounting, auditing and financial reporting problems and served as expert witness in allegations of accounting fraud or auditor misconduct. Matthew has also served as the National SEC and Accounting Advisor Practice leader at Stout, where he was responsible for SEC reporting and forensic accounting issues, and held a Director role at Alix Partners LLP, leading litigation consulting engagements to defend or monitor firms in high-profile and high-stakes SEC & PCAOB enforcement cases.


Prior to these roles, Matthew served 3+ years as an Associate Director, Enforcement at the PCAOB, seven years at the SEC in the Division of Corporation Finance and an Associate Chief Accountant in the Enforcement Division, and eight years as a public company auditor at KPMG.  


Matthew resides in Alexandria, Virginia and is alumni of State University of New York College at Oswego.
